You miss the point sadly.

Under the proposed system there would be no IRS. People who spend more, pay more tax. Poor people would be taxed less that way. You could even have a sales tax exemption of basic necessities. That way poor people hardly pay any tax at all. Expensive stuff (used to park money) like a Rembrandt original, you could even tax at a higher rate. The Brookings only advises on the current tax system.

So parking wealth in assets is taxed using a sales tax.

The government money printing and inflation stops hoarding. Fact is it also encourages a small government. Less government, less inflation. Governments would rise an fall on their economic policy.

None of this is my idea, its what has been suggested by others. The inflation and sales tax is balanced to get the best desired result. Low inflation is good (thus small government)

Here is a post on the current situation. Elon pays about 3% taxes, and he is paying a higher rate then others.

see utube video, started at minute 9 for a couple of minutes. It's fairly short. I am not necessarily agreeing with the sentiment, just the technical basics of how much tax is paid by the super rich.

My view is to leave out the petty stuff, it's about how best to run the government for the people. All of them, rich, poor and in between.
