I re-read the trilogy awhile back, and frankly found some of it boring.
I was surprised there was an effort to adapt it to film, because of the complexity, but
all things considered, we enjoyed it, and look forward to the next season later this year.

As always, opinions will vary.

One of the moments that marks my conversion from science fiction fanatic into an avoider was when I went back and tried to read some Asimov after discovering literary fiction around the age of 14. I realized that although he was a good non fiction writer and came up with interesting fiction plots, he couldn't create a real human character to save his life. Then I started looking back at some of my other former faves and discovered they had the same problem.

Pretty soon all I was reading from that genre was from outsiders like J.G. Ballard and R.A. Lafferty and Michael Moorcock, and not long after that I sold all the 3000+ sf and fantasy books I had collected.
