Joachim, The families of Russian soldiers who die in combat are entitled to a death gratuity, funeral arrangements, and military benefits. Which is why all too often these soldiers end up being listed as "missing" instead of KIA. That way, the state can avoid having to pay these benefits. Of course, it doesn't happen all the time.
