PiedPiper: >> My point was simply that they cannot and will not play in HDSL against PAIR or anybody else <<

I certainly couldn't tell that was your point. Pairgain controls 70% of the HDSL "two-pair" market. They have sold a total of ~400,000 lines. The consumer market is where ADSL will prosper, not in T1 replacement, ala HDSL market. USWest made that clear a month ago.

HDSL2 is coming which will open this market to competition. HDSL2 "single-pair", < 12,000, with standard non-proprietary solutions. Maybe I'm missing your point here, but Westell doesn't have IDSL or CDSL, but they do have HDSL. Contrary to your belief, there is a market outside of North America for HDSL products.
