The sun spot number is irrelevant to the discussion of climate on the earth and in the solar system. What the sun is dumping on us and what energy and plasma the earth's electromagnetic field can deflect determines the earth's weather, climate, frequency of hurricanes and severe weather, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and even human health. Note that these effects can occur during high or low sun spot levels. CMEs often occur along with solar flares (explosions on the Sun's surface), but they can also occur spontaneously. The frequency of CMEs varies with the 11 year solar cycle. At solar minimum we observe about one a week. Near solar maximum we observe an average of two to three CMEs per day. More important is if these CME events are pointed at the earth. The sun is currently at its 11 year activity peak and the earths electromagnetic shield has greatly weakened, so we are getting large changes in weather and climate. It has been estimated in scientific papers that more than half of the temperature increase we have measured recently is from the sun's solar peaking (11 year cycle) which has increased energy levels impacting the earth. On top of that, there is an electromagnetic plasma wave emanating from the galaxy on a 6000 year cycle that is currently peaking through our solar system. It's peaks correlate with extinction events in the earth's history (the last one seems to correlate with the bible story of Noah 6000 years ago, but also with extinction events occurring every 6000 years before that event) because of this waves effect on our sun possibly causing it to micronova. There is a lot of evidence for this 6000 cycle in the geoarchaeological record. Mainstream media is good at meticulously edited segments designed to manipulate those like you, who prefer comforting illusions over uncomfortable truths. The truth is we live beside a star that is not stable and can not only make life miserable for you, but easily end your life with a relatively small burp of plasma and energy at any time, with high sunspots or low.
