There's something called the Takings Clause in the Constitution for this type of thing.
The Takings Clause is part of the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, stating that private property cannot be taken for public use without just compensation. This clause ensures that if the government seizes property, the owner must be fairly compensated for it.
To tie this together, since you made a point about firearms (components) and I made a similar point about ammo - these were things legally purchased that were made illegal to use as intended. They weren't seized, but they may as well have been. The "Public Use" would be for the health of the waterfowl in my case.

Not that the USDA seems to care about waterfowl health - since from what I read, they're the ones who released (oops) the strain of Bird Flu going around that's in the mallards and infecting chickens.

If this problem of product obsolescence by regulation ever gets big enough and someone with the money and ability to fight the government, like Elon, decides to take it to court, I'd like to see some kind of recompense for this kind of government taking.

I won't hold my breath and I'll still keep my powder dry.

That's interesting to hear that loophole your state has about grouse and lead shot though - we also have ptarmigan. I'll have to check into that possibility.

I like grousing.
