Bill Wexler's thread and ATHM specifically.

I don't own ATHM and don't really care one way or the other. But in his intro he makes a point that cable companies are unlikely to upgrade your service. As I use DSS for TV service, perhaps one might infer I tend to agree.

However, ComCast has been diligent in North Jersey upgrading to fiber. As a result, I have 2 cable modems and an @home account. So does Jeff, and he's in Connecticut. Matter of fact, I have noticed people around SI posting thoughts on their new cable modems.

Further, I think cable companies shall upgrade across the country not only to compete with DSS but also to be in a position to compete with the RBOCs as well as provide other services to generate more cash.

So I think there is a basic flaw in his rational. Certainly the stock may be a short, but presuming cable companies will not try to expand their services and using that as a reason that ATHM is a short is not convincing to me.
