PrimeCo Personal Communications Awards DSC Contract for INfusion(TM) Signal Transfer Points
DSC's Switching and Monitoring Systems Successfully Deployed in PrimeCo's Wireless Network
DALLAS, Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- DSC Communications (Nasdaq: DIGI - news) and PrimeCo Personal Communications, L.P., announced today the signing of a one-year agreement with renewal options for delivery and deployment of DSC's INfusion(TM) Signal Transfer Point (STP) equipment. PrimeCo has successfully installed the advanced DSC switching systems as part of its nationwide network for wireless communications services. PrimeCo has also deployed DSC's NISuS (Network Information Support Services) system, which will enable network management and monitoring of PrimeCo's entire network from one central location. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
''We are pleased to be a part of PrimeCo's growing network, as we provide our industry-proven switch technology and expertise,'' said Mike Pisterzi, vice president, DSC's North American Sales and Global Customer Services. ''DSC has always been a strong provider of switching elements for both wireline and wireless networks, and we consider the movement to PCS networks to be an exciting opportunity for new advanced services and customer offerings.''
DSC's INfusion STP is a high-capacity, Signaling System No. 7 (SS7)-based switching system that will be used for message routing applications in PrimeCo's network. This flexible system will allow PrimeCo's customers to enjoy the benefits of one number service, roaming, caller validation and short message services. The INfusion STP has been widely deployed by carriers throughout the U.S., and it provides high-performance SS7 signaling for advanced intelligent networking (AIN) and wireless IN (WIN) features across wireless and wireline networks.
DSC's NISuS is an STP surveillance and reporting tool which prevents system problems and improves network performance by providing proactive and reactive support to network alarms and congestion. With its advanced monitoring capabilities, NISuS gives carriers such as PrimeCo better control over their networks and the high-quality services they deliver.
