I often wonder, depending on the particular stock or commodity market and its particular following at the specific time, that due to the amount of "following" to said stock or commodity market, TA becomes a "self fulfilling prophecy". If enough people are watching the stock or commodity market, and begin to see a specific pattern developing, i.e.: double bottom, or "breaking resistance", or reaching a specific "moving average", etc. then all those "watching" become participants as it is expected according to "text book"... On a different subject... (although still in re: "patterns") I finally figured out why the movie "Titanic" is so popular... It is due to our own morbid mind, never mind that "love story", tear jerker stuff... The Titanic Sunk in the early hours of April 15, 1912. Now, think (turn it on now), April 15... of every year, it is indeed our own personal Titanic that sinks into the deepest darkness of the IRS Ocean, never to be seen the light of reason again! Not to mention that it was 1913 (a year after the Titanic tragedy), the Feds learned quickly about "subliminal Psychology", and instituted the income tax (I believe that was the year), the excuse of course being the "War to end all Wars"... yeah right! Just "speculating"...
