I have to respond emphatically that the INTC chip does not,
will not, and can not compete against the TDFX chip. The
serious gamers out there will buy the TDFX chip.
Now, in terms of marketing, INTC has leverage very few others
could hope to aspire to. Reminds me of the "huge threat"
INTC posed to 3COM last year when it was supposed to get into
network interface cards (NICs) in a big way. What percentage
of the NIC market does INTC now have? Very small. Still,
as investing involves the streets perceptions, and not
necessarily reality, INTC can never be discounted.
