The old Soviet Union did this back in the 1970s when they were facing famine and needed the US to sell them food. The media was full of how beautiful Moscow was. Especially the subway. Outside of Moscow, it looked, well a lot like today. But a little newer. More bomb craters left from WWII. Just as drab. Same with East Berlin. Which had more exposure to the West. Absolutely stunning. With a deadly serious wall. So yeah, Moscow looks nice. Go somewhere else and report back.
