If the top of the towers had fallen from the aircraft impacts, they would have fallen one story.

Get some Jengo bricks or Lego, match sticks, straws, or whatever, and see if you can get a "progressive collapse" going from just the components on top.

You can't.

Really. Try it and check for yourself.

This is the only way to get the collapse going..



excepting carefully and expertly placed demolition charges.
