That means the party in power can inflict any number of impossible choices (and votes) upon you. Democrats are facing just such an impossible choice right now, ahead of a potential government shutdown this weekend. And they don’t seem to know quite what to do with it yet — for good reason. There are quite simply no good or obvious answers for Democrats right now ahead of a Senate vote on whether to pass the GOP’s government funding bill — which would keep the government funded through September at largely the same level as it is now — by the midnight Friday deadline.
