Tony: I have suspected all along that much of their R&D is "wasted" - that is, LSI has developed the wrong products and they are having trouble marketing them!

a double whammy.

besides on Wilf's credibility issue you are right again.

however he really was not very bullish this time in the c.call. I'm just talking of a longer term perspective (and therefore holding these in my IRA).

However 2 things different this time from last:

(a) Last year there was one Prozac type blockbuster chip intro (DVD). This time we have 3 biggies and likely 5 if you include CDMA and Fibre Channel (FC) chips.

(b) Secondly last time Wilf put $0 of his own money to support his claim. This time he put $2,300,000 of his own money to back up his claim (more than several times his base salary I think).

Tony, you must have missed the Wizard's great assessment of just that question. Fact is: they are getting GREAT growth out of that R & D and future Coreware projects. Problem is, "commodity" -type production still accounts for too large a percentage of production.. Check with Shane for the data on when to anticipate the "crossover" where th new, high-growth production overwhelms the old, commodity product... It is even worth owning LSI "Ahead of the Curve" to get in on that Growth prospect, IMHO... which I hope to catch this fall...
