That's an interesting fable, Al. Here are the facts:

On December 2, 1993, Pablo Escobar was on the run from Colombian authorities. He foolishly called his son and stayed on the line long enough for his call to be traced to the second floor of a house in the Olivos district of Medellin. The police surrounded him and shot him to death. No cellular, mobile phone; no GPS. Just very old fashioned phone tapping and tracing.

My source on this is an account by Gabriel Garcia Marquez published in the London Independent on June 21, 1997. What's your source?

The whole suggestion that this technology has been around for over four years is just silly. Do some homework.
