70% or 30% does not matter at all.

70% indicates a higher level of value added technology in the product sold than does 30%, and all the benefits that go along with that.

I'd much rather own a 70% gross margin company than a 30% gross margin company.

Sure, valuation matters as well, but those are different issues. One is fundamental to the business (level of gross margin), the other is fundamental to the stock.
