Richnorth, Since the number of neutrons varies a little the kinetc properties will also vary. This would allow you to make the desired uranium atoms more/less reactive to the outside world than the other one. I suspect thay might have found a way to gain a few separation stages this way. I do not know how far they could take it. Lasers if they could work at the precise frequency could do the same thing, perhaps better. I have read of some laser mechanisms to exploit the wight differences of assorted isotopes this way, however I lack details.
