Not even close. Share pricing is about numbers, because it is about money, and money is measured numerically. Share prices are not dictated by the public any more than special interest legislation is dictated by the public, they are dictated by institutional investors. Institutional players have various motives for thier actions, but they are all justified numerically, whether it is to juice someone for commission numbers, to boost meritorious compensation numbers or to increase the numbers of assets under management. Psychology is a game for the trader, not the investor. Guess who controls the stickiest capital, the institutional investor or the institutional trader?
