I suppose if they were designed to be 34 sq. mm they would be REALLY
MANUFACTURABLE.


FYI, AMD indicated in the January conference call that the gist of the remaining yield problem on the 0.35 K6 was simply defects. (There was also a speed bin problem but that was solved, which is obvious from the small spread in prices between 200 and 233 MHz and non-existence of the 166 speed.) Now I assume you had some statistics in college. If you did, you know that increased die size increases the probability of a bad chip EXPONENTIALLY if wafer defects or defects added during processing are the primary problem.
