Citizens in many countries are forming pro-MAGA lobbies (Make America Go Away) and their politicians and business leaders are getting the message. Already in Canada, even consumer staples such as food are affected and businesses have reduced their purchase of American goods and are favoring made in Canada. Few people know this, but Canadian provinces have had lower trade barriers with the US than within Canada (I know, so very stupid, but they never saw the need to fix this). But this is changing rapidly. The immediate "fix" to the Trump tariffs has been to remove the internal trade barriers. It will not be enough, because Canada does not have enough population to replace the trade with the US. But it will be better than nothing. The secondary solution is trans-Atlantic trade. EU can pick up some of the slack. Unfortunately, the Canadian governments (both Liberals and Conservatives) loath to partner with China. This is a mistake. Canada should be the Switzerland of North America.
