Hershey and Nestle, for all their irresponsible social engineering in newly-deforested developing nations, at least use real chocolate. So if you have a thick skin re eco-progressive consumer behavior, you can drink'em and be secure in your vegetarianism. It's the poor suckers in raw cotton and Birkies who switched to Bosco and Ovaltine as a, like, cruelty-free alternative. The horror, the horror. I don't have the heart to tell them.
Oh. And steer clear of Carnation. Y'know, carne, I won't spell it out ...(furtively looks both ways, continues) but that was a goat on their label. Testimony to the pure mechanical efficiency of their industrial-strength liquefiers. How you can get a critter, hooves&all, to come out so creamy&white, well, makes me proud to be an American sometimes. <sniff>
