Wharfie, Too bad American students aren't doing the same thing. I had the good fortune to meet face-to-face with the new president of my alma mater. Unfortunately his time was monopolized by this lady who kept complaining about the university's supposed "investments" into Israeli "genocide." By the time she was done, I hardly had any time to strike up even a brief conversation with the man. Meanwhile, the Orange Asshole's deportation stunts is already having a very chilling effect on anti-Israel protests here on American campuses, and that's by design. Think about it. You are attending a university whose tuition will put you into debt for the rest of your life. You can't risk getting expelled due to any reason whatsoever, so you will not be motivated to attend the protests. Result? Only those who can afford to protest will protest. And the MAGA assholes will point them out and say, "See? See? They're being paid to protest!" Never mind the fact that they blatantly and unilaterally repealed free speech. Tenchusatsu P.S. - I know what I'm saying sounds like a reversal of my previous opposition to these protests, given how disruptive they were during the previous administration. However, I have a clear line between legal protests and illegal activity. It's not my fault if both sides have a vested interest in erasing that line.
