That article about IBM misses the point if it is supposed to be an endorsement of using disc technology in portable devices. It compares the data/disc area ratio of solid state vs. disc. It completely misses on other key areas of this niche. Little problems like, power consumption, reliability, data integrity during rough handling, temperature, shock, etc. etc. etc.

The reliability and power concerns that portable device makers have with a 40MB Vapor! will not be erased by a 500MB IBM Vapor!
