The process represents a denial and repudiation of the notion of competitive advantage, which is rather like denying and repudiating gravity.

Your lack of faith is disturbing.

Open your mind and wallets, accepting Trump as your personal savior and mentor. He will make you rich. If not in this life, the next.

He Holds All The Cards(TM).

Calling tariffs a denial of competitive advantage is a stretch. Competitive advantage isn’t some sacred, unchangeable law like gravity—it’s a concept that assumes free markets always sort themselves out efficiently.

But in reality, some nations don’t play fair. Trump’s tariffs are about leveling the field, not rejecting economics. Consider China: they’ve been dumping cheap steel, subsidizing their industries, and manipulating their currency for years. That’s not 'competitive advantage'—it’s strategic gaming.

Tariffs are a pushback, a way to protect domestic industries from getting gutted by those tactics. Sure, it is imperfect—prices might rise short-term—but the idea is to force a recalibration, not pretend global trade is a meritocracy.

Gravity still pulls; it’s just that some players have jetpacks.
