It was what turned out to be a sebaceous cyst that I had for quite a while. It hadn't really bothered me, but it developed a black spot recently which concerned me enough to want it looked at.

It was Ken who was talking about peroxide.

Oh sorry, as to your other question, I wasn't clear in my first post today since I was trying to be brief to avoid typing much at once due to my arm nerve troubles. He removed the cyst itself.
