"I've never read that CO2 at 600 ppm is a problem for plants. My understanding is that 1000 ppm is about right"

Maybe in a greenhouse where you can control all the variables, but not outdoors. If CO2 sensitivity is 3 degrees C for a doubling of CO2, 1000 ppm would increase global temperatures by maybe 6 degrees.

(As a reference, we've gone from 280 PPM to about 425, and last year was 1.55 degrees C above pre -industrial)
