Decades of the both Republican/Democrats spending Federal not available.
Now Trump would have us believe he is going to fix that ? Lol...
It would take decades to fix with a viable solution with little noticeable impact.

Understandably this matter needs addressing but Trump acts like a drunk sailor taking no responsibility for his scorched earth methodology. The man is not right in the head.

Congress needs to address the budget deficits not the President.

Trump will end up being the most hated politician ever, imo.

Bonefish,
What do you expect after decades of this?
I don't expect Trump's trade war to last decades. He'll be lucky to keep it going after several months.

I do expect the world to transition to a post-America future, even after Trump is gone. That can only be good for the rest of the world.

Where we fit in is another question, though. Can we keep our economy growing without relying on the rest of the world to sell us cheap goods and buy our debt?

That's part of the motivation behind the reshoring of manufacturing, which Trump championed but is now trying to pursue in the exact wrong way.
