I don't know why, but somehow I get the feeling that the failed SmithKline Beecham / Glaxo Wellcome merger will be 'great news' for Ligand.

Actually they were pretty well agreed on how to cut costs. The first 10000 jobs were quite easy; the disagreement was over 4 or 5 boardroom seats.
