Thean, I wasn't being sarcastic. It's just that you come on the thread with some kind of pronouncement that is unsupported by anything approaching data. This is the kind of stuff I will always challenge, because I have that kind of mind. Proof by blatant assertion doesn't hack it. And that's the nub of all of the problems with TA.

Some weeks back I broached the topic of of the Iraqi impass, and said that at that point that those considerations were driving the market in this sector. I further said that TA was a waste of time. After today's action I stand by what I've said. QED

Regards, (no sarcasm)

Paul

About a turnaround...which most of us are wishing for. As an illustration about how fast it can come:
Qualcomm was placed in the trash heap by nearly every analyst due the Korean situation. Even Individual Investor's "Magic 25" (constantly wrong) deemed it dead money this morning!

Well, what do you know. This morning, they issue a string of press releases, a large number of partnerships and contracts and...+5 points later folks are wondering what hit 'em.

I have Qualcomm and bought more after it took that 10 point hit 2 weeks ago. Why? I believed in the fundamentals because that's all I can believe. Same goes for the drillers. Most of us are here because of the fundamentals...and we are staying because of them. Not to say the +5 points will stay, but there is a lesson here.

Yes, there is a time when one must cut one's losses...but at this point without a corresponding drop in fundamentals, why?

As Mr. Buffet has said (he's been quoted here)..."it doesn't take brains as much as a strong stomach to make money in the market."

It is hard to stay the course during times like this. But that is where the money is made. Yeah, one could jump on the DELL, MSFT bandwagon...but just remember where these stocks were two months ago.

Doesn't mean a damn thing for the drillers...it just means that trying to time this bullshit is full of potholes. Careful out there.
