Staying off topic (but first thanks for the feedback)

I'm from Manitoba. When I was younger I spent a couple years working on the rigs in northern Alberta and BC (could have made a career of it except the boom ended)......then switched to mining in northern Manitoba......then a complete flip into healthcare. I retired April 01.

I love where I live and love the idea that I can be in the middle of nowhere an hours drive away. Winters are a little long, but X country skiing, also in the middle of nowhere, is amazing. Canoe season is only a few weeks away and planning a couple solo trips.

You should definitely try to get up to Great Bear. I spent a summer as a fishing guide up there (including a side trip up to Tree River on the Arctic ocean for Arctic Char).....the country is amazing. The end of the tree line looks like someone put down a ruler and said no trees past this spot. LOL Only place I haven't traveled to in Canada is the Yukon.....hoping to strap my canoe on the roof of the car this summer and head that way.

Saying that there are huge expanses of the US I haven't been to and also hoping to make up for. Grew up as a kid just across the border from Detroit so most of my travel experiences south of the border are the Windsor to Winnipeg corridor.
