Sector, All RE: New Oak Communications

Founded in 1966 with 43 employees has recently agreed to be acquired by BAY newoak.com

Develops RAS switches for intra/internets. Provides for bandwidth management, authentication, routing, firewalls, and filtering capacity and regulates user access to corporate intanets. Initial product, an access switch, shipped in Nov. Other switch products are in development. Targets corporate networks and ISPs. Along with selling directly, sells through resellers and ISPs. Customers include 3M and the Sabre Group. Competes with CSCO, ASND and SHVA (and, of course, MRVC).

That's all I have.

Ron

I agree with your assessment. There's one thing I want to stress and that is the barely contained enthusiasm for the new Xyplex product due out shortly. They made much of the fact that it is more sophisticated than the NewOak unit the analyst was touting - if you remember the CTO (whose accent really muddies one's understanding of what he was saying) very FIRMLY responded that it is a superior product, more technically advanced than the NewOak 2000 user product. Noam, as you reported, repeated that the product is stackable, 64 ports or no.

Their integrated production, because they make the ASICs (I have that right, don't I?) means lower cost out the door and higher margins.

I'm especially pleased that they are going after higher margin markets, beginning with the Xyplex RAS/RAC and the existing GE and other products. And the lower margin OEM sales, relatively speaking, are lessening as is the percentage of European sales vs N. American, where margins are again higher. With production facilities in 3 (?) locations and tax advantages in Israel for production there they really emulate some of the big guys, e g Intel which also has production facilities there and elsewhere.

Very satisfied with the CC.
