Peter Schiff and the Puerto Rico Office of the Commissioner of Financial Institutions (OCIF) suspended the operations of Schiff's Puerto Rico-based Euro Pacific International Bank in June 2022 due to concerns about money laundering and tax evasion. Regulators later liquidated the bank, and Schiff paid $300,000 in fines. Schiff has claimed to have lost millions of dollars due to the investigation.
