Charlie Brown kicked the football!

Sort of.

Tandem OLEDs increase the lifetime of a display by 2x-4x (seen both estimates) so maybe the lifetime of the phosphorescent blue is between 25% and 50% of a fluorescent blue?

That assumes that this "hybrid" tandem structure has the same lifetime as a normal tandem device. They say that the device has similar "stability" to current devices. OTOH, the press release mentions smartphones and tablets as the initial target markets and not autos and laptops. Both of the latter markets are using tandem devices but likely have longer lifetime requirements than smartphones or tablets.

This is an oddly worded statement. Smartphones aren't usually referred to as "IT devices".

At the show, LG Display will be unveiling a blue phosphorescent OLED panel featuring two-stack Tandem technology applied to a small and medium-sized panel that can be applied to IT devices such as smartphones and tablets. As more and more products require high definition and high efficiency such as AI PCs and AR/VR devices, the application of blue phosphorescence technology is expected to expand rapidly.
iPad Pros are already using tandem displays so that would be the first big prize for blue.

The achievement comes about eight months after the company partnered with UDC to develop blue phosphorescence

Does anyone know what this means? LGD has been a customer for decades. Are we to believe that LGD & UDC have only been partnering on this recipe for this short period? About eight months ago is Q3 orQ4 of 2024. We have been told for years that any new blue development would mean a new contract.

There is no new contract in public records that I can find, nor in blue revenues in quarterly reports. Seems like if there were a new contract for blue that UDC would be shouting from the rooftops. Hope I'm wrong but I've seen this movie before with Charlie & Lucy & the football.
