Do they have other bad news to announce today?

Did they get wind of someone else making a big announcement?

This was the announcement that should have happened in 2023.

The problem here is that tandem displays are a limited market (though growing). A tandem architecture already reduced power consumption fairly significantly so another 15% is a nice bonus but I'm not sure it dramatically expands the TAM of tandem OLEDs.

LGD mentions patenting this method which seems insane to me but would be another obstacle to widespread adoption. Its doubtful that Apple will sole source iPad Pro displays.
OTOH, we are seeing adoption in laptops and maybe this accelerates that trend in high-end laptops?

I don't think 15% allows significant adoption in smartphones.

Overall, this might boost revs some in 2026, but absent adoption by Apple, it is not going to be the step change we've waited for.
