To all. FWIW, IFMX great Q and big volume has drawn a lot of new energy to this thread. We've got some new cheeerleaders and some new detractors. I suggest we take it all with a grain of salt.

How do you feel about SYBASE having to downsize? Does any of this bode well for IFMX? I would be interested in what businesses IFMX can pull away from SYBS.

<<So even though their may be a "hedge" involved, all it has done is "bought" Bob F time to show more solidly improving earnings (and revenue). >>

Bob,

The hedge has the effect of a steady, stable turn around instead of wild fluctuations in earnings quarter to quarter, which would be a disaster from the investment community's perspective. The 10K will paint the whole picture.

From my perspective, given that expenses are now being managed very carefully, top line growth is going to be the focal point.

I also spoke to a friend who worked as an auditor for a big six firm. He said that accruals and reserves are analyzed to see if they are reasonable and consistent from year to year in normal situations (no restatement involved). All other accruals and reserves must be explained, which depending on your interpretation of reasonable, could vary widely.

IMHO, Bob F. is balancing managing the bottom line to restore stable growth in earnings and revenue, while trying to restore customer and investor confidence. It's a fine balancing act between sending the message to customers that you're progressing financially, and setting reasonable future expectations for the financial community.

Good Luck to All

Jim
