Hi Carl- Congrats! I've been contemplating a similar fate. Life is short. -g-

Off-Topic (Daytrading)

Carl ,

Just a suggestion, but if you are going into full time daytrading, you might want to check out this thread.

Momentum Daytrading - Tricks of the Trade

Subject 18748

Lots of discussion about specific day trading techniques, including the ones you mentioned. Ken's methods are essentially covered in the first 100 posts or so, if I remember correctly.

I plan on short-term / daytrading value dead cat
bounces (I've been doing this for 10 years and have gotten
pretty good at it.) I also plan on daytrading over priced junk
susceptible to sudden drops, (on the short side, of course)

What's your view of a DCB on CIEN? How about AOL, overvalued?

It appears I'm now unable to make a winning trade even if my life
depended on it.

Bilow,

I'm in the same profession as you. If I were you I'd stick to the EE work. Your return on you time will be much better than with daytrading.

IMO the market is controlled by the brokerage houses. If they want a stock to go up they can do so by upgrading or reiterating upgrades or increasing 1999 earnings estimates by 3% etc... On the short side they also control when a stock will go down by downgrades etc. Also, they have the $ to squeeze shorts on overvalued stocks.

Daytrading is really a gamble in todays environment.
