Their government knows that, and also knows that the consequences for them would be ugly.
Oh give me a break. China put their people through much worse. Remember their COVID lockdowns, the most severe in the world? They were literally locking up their own citizens in apartment buildings.

Why do you think Trump is in love with autocrats? He's jealous of the amount of power Xi Jinping has over his people.

There are 195 countries in the world. 194 countries will continue to trade with each other and do less trading with the USA. USA will suffer the most until Trump gets off his high horse.

Look at stock markets this year. USA is one of the worst performers while Europe has just hit new highs.

Trump is living in La La Land.
