It's not renewables causing high retail prices.
Well yeah, that was my point.

Promises of "free electricity" thanks to the California sun have not materialized. Half if not most of the cost is related to transmission, not generation.

And our electrical grid is notoriously decrepit (although the same can be said about that of other states). Part of our utility bill has to go toward upgrading our grid and making sure old power lines don't spark and cause wildfires.

In any case, California can finally brag about making substantial progress toward a carbon-free utopia. That ought to make the Democrats in Sacramento proud.
