Actually there is a bigfoot 6.4 at $187 tonight at pricewatch. How can you say shame on them when the market is for Ultra DMA now. QNTM could sell those EIDE 6.4's for X$s today or Xminus$s two weeks from now. They are doing what they have to do to keep ahead of the Maxtor monster, with SEG making an attempt to get back in the ballgame and IBM setting up to separate the men from the boys. The Fujitsu and Samsung dumping really has only affected the smaller drive sizes,. It's going to get nasty when IBM starts rolling out the new higher density media with the new Ultra DMA66, probably within the next year. I'm curious as to the acceptance and cost of the future SEG optical drives. Seems like the current Floptical drives haven't been competitive enough to displace the IOM magnetic media drives.
