I have to agree with Brewster about the software. Symbol input is very cumbersome. There is no autolisting of options. One thing I found with some software is that you can't put a space between symbol groups (say you have the stock symbol then a couple of options.. I like to put a space between the next group.. LiveWire can't (note LW is a 16 bit dos program running in a dos window) BMI's Market Center program is 32 bit windows (great quote window setup). I'm supposed to receive WOW Daytrader tomorrow, I'll see how that fits in. For my use, REAL TIME BID/ASK on thinly traded options is the most important feature. There's a couple more things that have popped up today that I'm still working with. It seems that after market close Livewire won't update a new symbol until 1, the base is updated at 12 AM and 2, until it trades, I'm not sure yet. (I'm also a contractor down here in Florida and wasn't able to do much today.) I still feel a 3rd party software is needed for using DTN.
The machines I'm using are.. #1 is a new twin 300 P2 with 265ram 6 gig HD 8 gig Tape (40 megs a min) full boat custom built with all the goodies... #2 is a standard 166 P2 w/ 2 2.x gig HD and 64 ram. Needless to say I'm happy with the equipt, but finding the right combo of software for trading that compliments my trading style has been an ongoing job as I grow.
I haven't sent the BMI box back yet !!
