Alan,

QCOM is fairly risky but also has tremendous upside potential as the stock's future depends on CDMAone becoming widespread. It appears that the future for CDMAone is pretty bright in the USA and that alone should sustain QCOM for some time. It is unclear what will happen to QCOM in Europe as other telecom heavyweights try and circumvent QCOM's patents.

In the meantime revenues and earnings have exploded recently but that hasn't translated into a higher stock price. In fact, QCOM is one of the worst performers around with a relative strength of 19 according to Investors Business Daily. However, as the future for CDMAone becomes clearer the stock should surge.

As far as technicals like MACD, don't use them. This stock is extremely sensitive to current news and could fall or rise 5-10 points in one day no matter how the technicals look.
