The clinics you talk about getting your various successful day surgeries in are private clinics set up in private premises or using hospital surgeries. Private doctors (from other countries too) use hospital facilities to perform similar surgeries, like catarac, joint replacement, cancer treatment and hundreds of other surgeries. Very few, if any, are hospital staff doctors.

These are not really your Canadian health care system at work, as you claim. They would not exist without the willingness of private doctors.

Private services are taking over large parts of the health care system now in Canada because we can't afford medical services which currently consume over 50% of our taxes. Clinics are becoming big business and they charge more for certain services, diagnoses and use of equipment.

Most hospital equipment in hospitals are ancient and do a shitty job. Private clinics are springing up all over Ontario now doing diagnoses and many day surgeries now. There are more and more Doctor partnerships that buy modern, state of the art equipment to do procedures that in the past took place in hospitals. They are far faster and more efficient, but can cost more to the patient.

Hospitals are being split into two things, the traditional ICU and medical floors for dealing with the sick and injured, and clinics set up for private doctors to come and do day surgeries.

White coat, black art is syndicated, so can exist without the CBC.

My wife, a nurse, would tell you that the hospital system is extremely broken because of decades of stupid management and an influx of useless workers. There are huge numbers of incompetent people working in it, like over 50%. She would also tell you that things have been getting far worse in recent years as the young incompetent, lazy people replace the dedicated, knowledgeable, hard workers that retire or get sick from extreme stress.

The Canadian medical system is no better than the American system. Your care depends completely on what nurses and doctors you get. Lots of people die or get maimed in both systems.

Most Americans have health care through either medicade or private insurance via Obamacare. Americans do not have over 50% of their taxes going to medical care like Canadians. So this is not a reason for Alberta to not join the U.S.
