2) How many starters that are burned out from stop/start over use will have to be replaced? I'm sure it takes a toll on the battery also. They don't last that long in new cars anyway with all of the new features running 100% of the time.

Actually there are permanent auto stop start defeaters for sale online. They plug in under the console shifter. Of course they will say it voids your warranty or other nonsense. Other wise you have to disable Everytime you start up. Or wedge a business or credit card in some case autostopeliminator.com

To be honest, starting systems were beefed up severely to handle the extra loads. I read somewhere (could be wrong) my '15 Cherokee was designed for 150,000 starts, something like that, in an effort by the manufacturer to claim better gas mileage and to cash in on government hand outs for co2 emission cuts. I usually disable the stop/start system each time I go for a ride mainly because it's stupid, when I pull into a parking lot or my home driveway, and come to a stop with my foot on the brake in drive like everyone does, it shuts the engine off, then when I put it in park the stupid thing starts the engine again, so I have to shut the key off to shut it down again. Stupid wear and tear for no reason. As well I don't like the admittedly small but extra engine friction on re-starts, the small but extra load on the battery, and the compliance with the powers that be to fiddle with my car like they fiddle with my shower head. So with my '15 Cherokee I doubt I'll ever have starter trouble because it's so beefy and I don't use the feature. Same with the battery, although it may cost more to replace if necessary.
