My heart goes out to you and your extended family on this loss. The story you tell is in many ways typical, of extended passings. The love and caring you and your family showed is a beautiful testament to the strength of a good family network. Not everyone is that fortunate. Like the lives we live, the endings we find are generally unique. I have seen people go in terrible pain and confusion, others slip away quietly, and a few told me that their brother, who was long dead, was coming by in his car next morning for a holoholo around the island.--or a related story of the future-past engulfing the present in love and concern. In a few rare cases the individual left with comedic flair that left the staff smiling. Again my sympathies to you and your family on the loss of your brother.
