The rehab or prehab has been beneficial. I had 4 months to get in shape for the first surgery and 6 months for this one including 3 months for the surgically repaired hip and another 3 months to prepare the yet-to-be-operated-on right hip. Walking 1-2 hours every day as part of the rehab has helped. My pain tolerance has improved from all the walking on the arthritic hip. From the forums on hip replacement, the typical case is 1-2 weeks of swelling and 1 week of pain requiring narcotic pain medication.
