Man stripped naked, beaten with poles after using racial slurs in bar, police say

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. (WHBQ) - Police in Mississippi said a man was attacked after he walked into a club and used racial slurs.

Investigators are now trying to determine if that attack is a hate crime.

A video provided by police shows the target of this investigation on the ground. Investigators believe that at some point, the attackers poured beer on him.

They say the attackers used sticks and poles to beat the man. They allegedly kicked, hit and stomped all over his body.

Investigators said seconds before, the victim walked into the club and began calling patrons the N-word.

Once outside, the video shows him continuing to do so, according to police.

Police said the victim did not go to the hospital until May 21. The incident happened on May 18.

They said he is in a lot of pain and believes his jaw may be broken.

Officers said in the three months CJ’s has been open, they have responded to about 30 calls to the club. They want it now to be declared a nuisance by the district attorney.

Police said they have a person of interest they would like to speak with, but believe several people are responsible.
