Ron,

<<do you realize how seg has done this past year--maybe he was forced out?>>

I don't follow SEG, but it is certainly possible that Mr. Frane was forced out. However, it is also possible that he was seeking greener pastures. Mr. Frane's involvement with the Fibre Channel side of Seagate's business leads me to believe it was the latter. (I don't think Seagate will be cutting back on their Fibre Channel development, since that should be where their highest margins and least competition are.

Ron,

One thing I neglected to mention was in relation to these quotes from today's press release:

"Frane will direct Ancor's expansion in fast-growing Fibre Channel storage connectivity areas, focusing on OEM customer development, storage product development and industry partnerships."

"According to Ancor's Vice President of Marketing, Carla Kennedy, "Frane brings a wealth of experience in the high-performance storage arena. But more importantly, he has the vision, relationships and proven track record to leverage our Fibre Channel engineering expertise to the OEM customer marketplace.""

I realize that I'm reading between the lines here, but these statements get me to wonder why Ancor would hire a guy for this position, if there wasn't any business to be had? And the flip side of that is why would Mr. Frane accept such a position, if there wasn't any business out there?

Once again, we see the focus shifting to storage OEMs. There is certainly a fair amount of smoke here. I just hope it isn't smoke and mirrors. <g>
