Musk did not provide evidence for his claim or say how he had come to see the files. The Tesla and SpaceX chief was a former close advisor of Trump and headed the newly-created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) before his departure last week. DOGE, a controversial department, was tasked with shrinking the government and saw thousands of federal jobs axed. Since his departure, he has taken a swipe at Trump's tax-cut and spending bill, calling it a "disgusting abomination."
