Bottom line is that this is a bull market where bad news is ignored. Previous two monthly payroll reports were revised down by 95K and the market just ignored that and focused on the 139K job creation for the month, which will likely be revised down in the coming months. Plus, the Household survey lost 600K jobs.

Greatest American and transcendentalist, Ralph Waldo Emerson, who was excommunicated from the Protestant church for claiming that the Incarnation proved not only that G-d can become man, but every man can become G-d, taught that as bad as things may may get, it always pays to have a cheerful and optimistic disposition if one wants to become as healthy and wealthy as can be and live life to the fullest. And Emerson knew of darkness: he buried two wives and was best friends with the dark, solitary one, Henry David Thoreau.

In terms of the stock market, this means ride the bull as long as possible and then go short to protect profits. It can be done because I have done it, most recently during the most recent swoon.
