<<As I always say, Technical Analysis (TA) is the perfect tool to predict the past.>>

With respect to the vast majority of the methods as applied by the vast majority of the practitioners, I'd have to agree with you. HOWEVER, if you apply non-parametric tests of significance to weed out the B.S., what remains is the next best thing to owning your own casino.

RE: Technical Analysis (TA) is the perfect tool to predict the past.

It would be interesting (and I wonder if it's been done). To pick some top TAists, give them blind historical graphs and measure their percentage of correct future trade decisions.

I'd be willing to wager some money that it's not too high.

Paul, do you think the $4ish earnings estimates are accurate? Don't mean to put you on the spot, but have read and respect your input.

Richard Very very long on Intel...

Paul,
RE: "As I always say, Technical Analysis (TA) is the perfect tool to
predict the past."
Have you ever attempted to get a working knowledge of TA?
Actually it can be very predictive...but unless you learn you will never know. Then again who cares when you look at all those Intel shares that you got for pennies back in the seventies. <G>

Paul, Re: "As I always say, Technical Analysis (TA) is the perfect tool to predict the past"

Well said. It's probably because TA results can be interpreted in many ways. After the fact one can make the facts fit, ala Nostradamus. People probably need it to feel in control.
